 What is a Cruise?

Cruise means to sail or travel about for pleasure, relaxation, or sightseeing. It is an ocean trip taken for pleasure or pure entertainment.

 What is Gulf Dream Cruise?

Gulf Dream Cruise is the name of a Cruise Liner which will make its first journey ever from Karachi to Dubai. Its is first time ever in Pakistan that such a travel trip is being offered to the people. It is very reasonably priced with top class service standards. It is a five day trip from Karachi to Dubai and back.

What does the Cruise ticket include?The cruise fare entitles the customer to accommodation, meals and entertainment aboard the ship. Certain specialty restaurants are available with either nominal cover charges or fixed price menus and a la carte pricing in addition to the standard dining program.

 What is not included in the Cruise ticket?

Items of a personal nature are not included, such as service charges, alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, spa treatment, certain specialty exercise classes, laundry, photographs, casino, ship to shore phone, email, internet, fax and shore excursions (including all dive in programs).

How many suitcases are allowed on board?

Each person is allowed 2 pieces of personal luggage, with each piece weighing maximum of 50 pounds (22 kg). Airlines and GDC have limited liability for loss, so be sure that all luggages is securely locked and tagged, If possible also insured. Medication, jewelry or other valuable and important documents should be hand carried.

Is the cruise free for children?

It is free for infants of 2 yrs or below (upto 2 infants)

50% of the ticket needs to be paid for children of 15 yrs or below (upto 3 children)

 What is the procedure for provisional/tentative booking?

Travel & Culture staff calls up Gulf Dream Cruise (GDC) and gives them following information:

1.     EC staff code

2.     Name of customer

3.     Cabin Category required

4.     Date of departure

5.     No. of Passengers, No. Of adults, No of Children, No of Infants

If the required cabin category is available with GDC, they would make a provisional booking and issue a reference no. The same to be communicated to the customer on a plain paper slip along with cruise promotional material. (Provisional booking will hold for 24 hours and would stand void if payment is not made within this timeline)

 What do the customers need to get at the time of booking for the cruise?

  1. Photocopy of first 2 pages of (new) passport, with 6 months validity from the date of departure (incase of old passport photocopy of first 4 pages).
  2. Photocopy of National Identity Card (NIC)

Note: Please bring your original passport and NIC for verification at the time of booking.

Are tours of Dubai also included in the ticket cost?

Price of tours in Dubai is exclusive of the ticket cost. Tour packages can also be booked in advance through Intiana-Travel & Tours (Ph: 021-4391551-4) for a smooth journey.

What is the cancellation policy prior to embarkation?

Cancellation 30 days prior 25% charges off the ticket

Cancellation 16-20 days prior 50% charges off the ticket

Cancellation 15 days prior 100% charges off the ticket (no refund)

 What is the mode of payment accepted for the cruise?

  • By Pay order in the name of Gulf Dream Cruise Pvt Ltd.
  • Credit Cards
  • Deposit slip (payment deposited in the Alflalah account of GDC)
  • Cross cheques only in case of reliable corporate customers or VIPs

How do I pay for onboard expenses?

For your convenience; all shipboard expenses are charged to GDC's special Onboard Credit program. Sign up on the first day of your cruise by establishing your method of payment with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diner's Club, travelers checks or cash. If you choose to settle your account with cash, a deposit will be required in advance. You may also use your debit card; however, please be advised that GDC obtains pre-authorization, which some banks may hold for up to 30 days.

What about currency?

You may cash travelers checks at the Reception Desk. Currency exchange, at prevailing rates, is available on some cruises. Travelers checks and most major credit cards are accepted in the ports we visit. Proper ID is required when cashing travelers checks. We recommend you carry a small amount of local currency when visiting foreign ports, although credit cards are commonly accepted in shops and restaurants. US$ are accepted at Duty Free Shops.

What about smoking, drinking and gambling on the ship?

Smoking is permitted in designated areas in the bars and outside on open decks. All other areas on board ship are non-smoking. Guests 21 years or older may purchase or drink alcohol. GDC permits guests who are 18 through 20 years of age to purchase or drink beer and wine only, with written consent of a parent or guardian traveling with such guests (except on Alaska and Hawaii cruise). Guests 18 through 20 years of age who are granted permission to drink beer and/or wine may purchase such beverages only for their own personal consumption.** Guests are not allowed to bring on board the vessel any alcoholic beverages of any kind. Guests must be 18 to gamble on the ship. If a guest under the age of 18 wins in the casino and cannot provide proof of age, he or she will not be paid the winnings. There are no casinos on our ships in Hawaii.

Are babysitters available?

In addition to the Kid's Crew program, group sitting programs are available at a nominal cost from 10:00pm. to 1:00am. each evening and while in port from 9:00am. to 5:00pm. for children ages 2-12. During the group sitting program hours, youth counselors will supervise and entertain children with a variety of activities. Hours of operation are subject to change. Programs and age groupings are subject to change. According to Public Health regulations, no diapers of any kind are permitted in the swimming pools or hot tubs, including those marketed as “swimmers.”

What other services are available?

·        Beauty salon and spa services include hairstyling, manicures, pedicures facials and massages.

·        Gift shops feature duty-free shopping, Fine jewelry, perfumes, clothing, cosmetics and limited drugstore items.

·        Laundry & dry-cleaning services.

·        Photographs taken throughout the cruise

What about people with special needs?

GDC welcomes guests with special needs. Of course, we may require advance notice in order to accommodate them, so they must advise GDC's Passenger Courtesy Department of Their needs at least three weeks prior to their cruise. All of our ships have designated staterooms with wider doorways and bathrooms that will accommodate wheelchairs and staterooms with lights and under-pillow vibrating alarms for guests with hearing impairments. Many staterooms have refrigerators that can be used to stare medications that must be kepi cold. Guests who need oxygen or require oxygen therapy are welcome on all GDC ships; however, they' must supply their own oxygen. Guests who use wheelchairs must provide their own. All passengers that require medical equipment to be brought on board must advise GDC's Passenger Courtesy Department prior to sailing. Failure to do so may result in equipment not being cleared before departure. Please see Terms & Conditions.

Is there a doctor on board?

A physician and nurse are on each ship to provide medical care and services at customary charges. Commonly used medications are kept on board and may be prescribed by the ship's doctor. A helicopter service is also available in case of emergencies.
