III : Economic Aspects of the Tourism Sector:

The Tourism Sector plays a significant role in the economy of the
Country. The economic impact of foreign tourism is discussed below:-

Average Spending Level

According to the State Bank of Pakistan data, the average spending
per foreign tourist improved from US$ 270.7 in 2003, to US$ 286.4 in 2004,
showing an increase of 5.8 percent. Similarly, spending per tourist per day
also increased by 6.5 percent from 10.8 US$ in 2003 to 11.5 US$ in 2004,
on account of the increased arrivals from high spending markets including
Europe, America, Pacific and East Asia and Middle East.
