İstanbul Şehir University Details of Admissions Scholarships for Pakistan

İstanbul Şehir University rose with an academic pursuit which has directed the Foundation for Sciences and Arts since 1986. İstanbul Şehir University, which took the road as a real “foundation university”, started its actual foundation works in 2007.

The University gained “institutional identity” in May 31, 2008 and went into action in its contact office in Tophane in June 1, 2008. During this process, under the leadership of “Research-Development Group” which gathered a strong, young and dynamic academic community, discussions were brought up relating the unique values that the University is to put forth in view of production and dissemination of information and the problems it may face.

Considering the importance of intellectual discussion and exchange of ideas, deep interviews have took place with the figures ho are competent and strong in their field, in order to build the university model in accordance with the needs of the academic world and the community, in which it was born, believing that right questions are more real than quick replies. Within this context, negotiations have been made with the names as Ahmet Davutoğlu, Akşin Somel, Fahri Aral, Teresa Doğuelli, Abdülkerim Kar, İsmail Erünsal, Nabi Avcı, Nüzhet Dalfes, Ensar Gül, Bahattin Akşit, Elisabeth Özdalga, Fethi Çalışır, Ayşe Ayçiçeği, Tayfun Atay, Halil Berktay, İskender Savaşır, Orhan Tekelioğlu, Gencer Özcan, Edibe Sözen, Cemal Kafadar, Nezih Erdoğan, Mustafa Aydın, Mithat Çelikpala, Suavi Aydın, Fuat Keyman, Mehmet Öz, Zeynep Direk, Levent Köker, Zafer Toprak, Mustafa İsen, Meliha Altunışık, Doğan Özlem, Ersin Kalaycıoğlu, Ali Fuat Bilkan, Mete Tunçay, Süleyman Seyfi Öğün, İlhan Kutluer, Kayahan Özgül, Süha Oğuzertem, Ömer Torlak, Ekrem Tatoğlu, Serdar Sayan, Sibel Arkonaç, Ziya Öniş, Haldun Evrenk, Seyfettin Gürsel, Kemal Madenoğlu, Nihat Erdoğmuş, Gültekin Yıldız, Nurullah Genç, Ömer Faruk Akyol ve Murat Güvenç.

In addition to the thorough interviews made with these figures, Research and Development Group continued to discuss which disciplines in the university must be represented by what kind of structure, actors and processes and, accordingly, prepared “foundation reports” for different departments so as to form a basis for the subsequent academicorganization of the University. The writing process of foundation report was followed by the preparation of the strategic report of the University and within this context, a “search conference” has been held with the participation of fifty prominent figures from different occupational and social groups for the first time in May 2009.

In the following June and July, the preparation of “İstanbul Şehir University Strategic Plan” was completed. Furthermore, the University has started to carry out architectural works on "İstanbul Şehir University, Dragos Campus" as of May 2009.

İstanbul Şehir University, which aims at contributing to the production and dissemination of heuristic information met its first students in 2010- 2011 Academic Year, with its unique, participatory, universal and liberal perspective and flourishing team. İstanbul Şehir University continues its activities in Altunizade East, Altunizade West and Altunizade South Campus, under the roof of 6 colleges and 3 graduate schools

Undergraduate Admissions

To register in undergraduate programs offered in İstanbul Şehir University, one must have graduated from a high school (Intermediate, A Level ) or its equivalent and also pass an entrance test of the Istanbul Sehir university organized by the ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement System).

Information relating the international admissions to undergraduate programs

General Application Requirements for International Students

The applications of:
Students who are either high school graduates or are studying their last year in high school,
Students with dual nationality who abandoned their Turkish or Turkish Republic of North Cyprus (TRNC) citizenship and who complete their entire high school education abroad
Citizens of TRNC who have completed their entire high school in TRNC and have GCE A/L result
will be accepted.
The applications of:
Turkish citizens,
Citizens of TRNC (except the students who have completed their entire high school in TRNC and have GCE A/L result)
Students with dual nationality one of which is either Turkish of TRNC (except the students who have completed their entire high school in TRNC and have GCE A/L result)
Students with dual nationality who abandoned their Turkish or TRNC citizenship (except the students who have completed their entire high school in TRNC and have GCE A/L result) and who complete their entire high school education either in Turkey or TRNC
Students with dual nationality who abandoned their Turkish or TRNC citizenship and who graduate from the Mission schools in Turkey
Students expelled from an institutions of higher education in Turkey due to disciplinary action
will not be accepted.
Required Documents For Application:
Undergraduate Application Form for international students
Photocopy of high school diploma (if available)
Photocopy of high school transcript (the document, approved by the school administration showing high school courses taken and grades received by the applicant)
Photocopy of national ID card or passport
Photocopy of exam results (if available) indicating English or Turkish proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, TÖMER certificates, etc)
One passport sized photo (4.5 cm x 6 cm), to be attached to the application form
Photocopy of the one of the national or internetional test results (if any) listed under “The Minimum Exam Scores Required For Application”

*All the documents have to be either in English or Turkish. If they are not, kindly attach the certified English or Turkish translations.

There will be no limitation for the validity period of the Baccalaureate exams such as ABITUR, International Baccalaureate, GCE, Tawjihi which are proposed for the application assessment in admission to the university. However, the results of the university entrance examinations such as SAT, GAOKAO, National University Examination of Kazakhstan etc. will be valid for two years only.

2015 - 2016 ACADEMIC YEAR TUITION FEES


International students:
Tuition fees in the 2015-2016 Academic Year are, VAT included, 11.700 USD in the English Preparatory Program and 13.200 USD in the undergraduate program. Tuition fee can be paid on the yearly and semesterly base.

Tuition fees can be paid in cash, by bank credit cards in 6 installments for "Advantage, World, Paraf, Bonus and Bankasya Cards" in annual payment and 3 installments in payments per semester.


Students with Turkish and TRNC citizenship:
Tuition fees in the 2015-2016 Academic Year are, VAT included, 26.500 TL in English Preparatory Program and 29.900 TL in the undergraduate program.
Tuition fees can be paid in cash, by bank credit cards in 6 installments for “Advantage, World, Paraf, Bonus and Bankasya Cards” in annual payment and 3 installments in payments per semester. The payments can also be made by education loan.

If the whole tuition fee is paid in cash or paid by credit card as bullet payment, there will be a reduction of 5 % in payments made for the whole year or a reduction of 2 % in payments made for that semester.

Tuition and accommodation fees at ŞEHİR are determined every year by the Board of Trustees with regard for price and cost increase and are not to be greater than the CPI rate announced in August.

2014 - 2015 ACADEMIC YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Super Scholarship:

Full tuition fee waiver + dining scholarship for 9 months + free accommodation at university dormitories for 9 months + monthly stipend for 9 months (400 TL per month) + health insurance + laptop computer

Priority will be given to students who:

are within the top 5% percent of their high school graduating class
have certified their English language proficiency (minimum scores required: IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL-IBT 100)
submit an exceptional “Letter of Intent” and a proven record of extracurricular activities
are in financial need.
Full Scholarship:

100 % tuition fee waiver + health insurance + laptop computer

Priority will be given to students who:

are within the top 10% percent of their high school graduating class
have certified their English language proficiency (minimum scores required: IELTS 6.0 or Toefl-iBT 79)
submit an excellent “Letter of Intent” and a proven record of extracurricular activities.
50 % Tuition Waiver Scholarship:

50 % tuition fee waiver (tuition fee for undergraduate programs: 6.600 $, for English Preparatory School: 5.850 $) + health insurance + laptop computer

25 % Tuition Waiver Scholarship:

25 % tuition fee waiver (tuition fee for undergraduate programs: 9.900 $, for English Preparatory School: 8.775 $) + health insurance + laptop computer

INFORMATION REGARDING FEES AND SCHOLARSHIPS:

The medium of instruction at ŞEHİR is English. For students who do not have the required English proficiency level, there is a one-year-long English preparatory program.
All international Undergraduate students will be admitted to the undergraduate programs on full or partial scholarships. These scholarships are valid for 5 years duration (1 year of English Preparatory Program plus 4 years of undergraduate study).
All admitted international students will be provided with State Health Insurance (GSS) free of charge.
All admitted international students will be given free laptop computers.
Accommodation: For the 2014-2015 academic year, the monthly room fees per person varies from 250 USD to 450 USD depending on the room type (double, triple, quadruple rooms)
Dining: Monthly on-campus dining costs around 400 USD for 3 meals of standard menu.
Those who will apply for Super Scholarship (A+) and Full Scholarship (A) are required to certify their Advanced level of English.
International students can participate in Erasmus and other exchange programs in Europe, in the US or other parts of the world upon completion of their first year in their faculties.
Prospective international students can apply to İstanbul Şehir University undergraduate programs with their high school transcript and diploma, national and/or international examination results.
