HISTORY
Okan University School of Medicine started to give medical
education on September 22,2014 The building was completed at the beginning
of 2014 and started with education on September 22.
EDUCATION
Okan University School of Medicine introduced a new
integrated curriculum beginning with the class entering in fall 2014 For
several decades the Schools of Medicine employed a discipline-based
curricula however we have not chosen it as a model, because we believe
that integrated curricula (1C) provide better integration of material
across basic sciences and between basic and clinical sciences. Instead of
being divided into a number of courses based in and administered by the
academic departments, In 1C model, curricula are based upon body and organ
systems. 1C is now divided into a number of interdisciplinary
"committees." Each committee is organized according to body or organ
systems and planned also taught in a coordinated fashion by faculty from a
number of basic science departments. In phase I, k basic sciences
committees are present. Each committee has approximately 8 weeks.
Language of instruction is English.
Duration of program: 4 years (additional one year at
English Preparation School for students who doesn't meet language
requirements)
