Fairy Meadows

Fairy Meadow as referred to is the starting point for trekking to Nanga Parbat. It gets its name from its immense beauty due to green pastures, at 3300 m with a breath taking view of Majestic Nanga Parbat (8125 meters 9th highest in the world Mountain). Although not easily accessable due to rough road and upjill walk it is one of the most picturesque spts in the world.

Many Pakistani and foreign tourists visit fairy meadows from May to September. In the past fw years locals have constructed basic but clean hotels and rest houses in the area which makes it a pleasant holiday spot to live in place away from all the worldly affairs.

The name Fairy Meadows is part of the legend that Fairies have their heaven on this lush green plateau. Hermann Buhl, the Austrian climber who made the first ascent of Nanga Parbat in 1953, named it Fairy Meadow due to its wonderful scenery.

How to get there

To reach fairy meadows one needs to take the bust / private car on Karakorum highway to CHilas and continue about 50 Kilometers to Raikot bridge. At the bridge there are jeeps available to take you to the Tato village from where you can hike for 2 & half or 3 hours to reach Fairy Meadows.

Things to do

One of the things you can do in fairy meadows is just relax and unwind yourself to the beauty of nature and let the the greenery and the white snow on top of Nanga Parbat sooth you. You may camp at the green pastures and count stars in the sky fro the milky way which is visible from fairy meadows.

Other thing to do are, horse riding, walks to near by villages or a long walk to Beyal camp at 3500 meters above sea lever, or trek around Nanga parbat. ot trek t the base camp of Nanga parbat at 3900 meters.
