The city of Bahawalpur promises a lot many attractions for the visitors. There are quite a number of places of historic and cultural interest in and around the city. At a distance of 30 km from Bahawalpur, is the Great Cholistan Desert stretched far in all its immensity. Locally called Rohi, it is entrenched in an area of 16,000 sq. km. The inhabitants are wandering nomads and mostly lead a gypsy way of life. The historical Derawar Fort, 48 km from Dera Nawab Sahib, still retains its old grandeur and is a monument worth seeing.
