Hotels in Pakistan
Since 9/11 the hotel Industry has suffered a lot, very few new hotels have been
built, the international chains are not showing much interest in opening the
hotels in the country due to lack of tourism business and security situation.
The local chains have done some work in bringing about a varsity of hotels but
as there tourists is not any more core business of the hotels, the hotels rely
on local customers/ Specially corporate events.
International chain of hotels
There are just 4 chains which have hotel in the country.
Serena Hotels : Although considered more as a local chain Serena is the
largest Internation chain hotels in Paikistan having 8 properties in the
country. They offer a combination of 3, 4 and 5 star hotels. They have one
hotel in Islamabad, One if Faisalabad, One in Quetta all 5 star hotels while in
Gilgit and Swat have 4 star hotels and in Hunza, Khaplu, Shigar they have 3
star boutique hotels.
Movenpick : Only one hotel in the coastal city of Karachi, formerly
Sheraton hotel Karachi recently taken over by the Movenpick hotel. It is a 5
star propery with 447 rooms one of the largest in Pakistan.
